Malcolm Reading Consultants is pleased to announce today (19 November, 2024) that they will be organising the forthcoming design competition for the Queen Elizabeth II National Memorial in St James’s Park, London.

The Queen Elizabeth II National Memorial Masterplan Design Competition will be an open two-stage competition seeking submissions from inspired and dedicated multidisciplinary teams. The memorial will honour the late Queen’s extraordinary life of service and her contribution to the United Kingdom, Realms and the Commonwealth, offering space for celebration as well as reflection. The competition is expected to launch in the coming weeks.

Architects, artists, landscape architects, engineers and other related disciplines who are interested in the initiative can find out more, and register for launch notification with the specialist competition organisers Malcolm Reading Consultants, at the competition website.

The Queen Elizabeth II National Memorial project is being overseen by the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Committee (QEMC), an independent body responsible for considering and recommending proposals for a memorial to Queen Elizabeth II. It is jointly supported by the UK Government and the Royal Household, and chaired by the late Queen’s former Private Secretary, Lord Janvrin.

The Committee has visited the four nations of the United Kingdom and consulted widely to ensure ideas and suggestions from the public as well as from key stakeholders and experts inform the project scope and design brief.

The project site will be in St James’s Park, London. It will include the area of the park adjacent to The Mall at Marlborough Gate, and land surrounding the pathway down to the lake including the Blue Bridge.
